ABOUT RAN

w/Noga Erez

Based in Berlin, Germany, Ran Jacobovitz has spent 20 years as a highly sought-after drummer for both live and studio work, building a reputation in one of the most vibrant music scenes in the world. His genre-crossing vast dynamic range and creative, outside-the-box approach have led him to be included in countless projects- ranging from round-the-world touring Folk/Rock/Indie/Electro bands, major veteran and contemporary artists alike, Theater productions and studio recordings for dozens of albums.

Some of his previous/current work and collaborations include high profile international artists such as ASAF AVIDAN, NOGA EREZ, LOLA MARSH and YEMEN BLUES, top mainstream singer-songwriters such as DANIELA SPECTOR, EFRAT BEN ZUR and DANI ROBAS, as well as various respectable Indie groups such as TOTEMO, GARDEN CITY MOVEMENT, FOLLY TREE, BILL & MURRAY, SUN TAILOR, FLORA, PANIC ENSEMBLE, BUFFALOS and THE WAKE UP SUZZYS, to name a few.

Alongside his career as a performing musician Ran has always been a passionate drum educator, and in addition to teaching in his studio he has in recent years taken his educational side to its next level and broadened it to conducting his own specially designed percussion ensemble workshops for organizations and different groups.

Playing the drums since 1995, Ran studied music at his high school's music department and later went on to study at Rimon School of Music.

"The beats are provided live by Ran Jacobovitz, the most in-demand drummer in TLV. He turns into a human trap machine..."

-BILLBOARD MAGAZINE (Noga Erez review)

"Ran Jacobovitz, the drummer- I fell in love. A painter of drums, and his facial expressions... It was hard for me to take my eyes off him. Something about him seems out of this region. No, he's not a drummer. He's something new. A genius."

-TLV CITY MOUSE MAGAZINE (Buffalos review)

“We try to make our computer-based music as live as possible. This became easier when drummer Ran Jacobovitz joined us. The way he’s able to play the broken beats that we created in the studio is mind-blowing. Ran has become an important part of this band”

-Noga Erez interview on RELIX MAGAZINE

"Although I mentioned the drummer last, as it is customary, you could say that in the case of Bill & Murray, that is a very imprecise roll order, Because the big twist with this group (or at least on this concert) is the combination of Jacobovitz's virtuoso drumming with the fluent, pleasant high vocals of Blau and Gotshtein..... with the hopeful song "Scissors" Jacobovitz's drumming was once more virtuosically inspiring, the kind that you don't get to see every day".

-RAASH MAGAZINE.

“Erez’ prodigiously talented percussionist Ran Jacobovitz…”
